Bisrat Coffee

Ethiopian Coffee

Slow-roasted. Made to be shared.

The name

ብሥራት means good news. We named our coffee after the feeling of it: the smell that reaches the next room, the pause before the first sip, the people who gather because the pot is ready.

  • Slow-roasted

Roasted unhurried, so the sweetness comes forward before the bitterness does.

  • Whole bean or ground

Keep the beans for the freshest cup, or pick a grind made for your jebena, filter or moka pot.

  • Sealed to stay fresh

A resealable pouch keeps aroma in and air out, from the first scoop to the last.

  • Made to share

Brewed in three rounds, the way Ethiopian coffee has always been served: slowly, and together.

The ritual

Three rounds, one gathering

In the Ethiopian coffee ceremony the same grounds are brewed three times. Each round has its own name and its own meaning.

Round one

Abol

Strength Strongest

Served with popcorn or kolo (roasted barley), often with incense burning nearby.
